Taking back the gas is not easy for daring ladies

In recent months I have trained for the Amsterdam half marathon. And last week I injured my calf for the umpteenth time. It looks like I won't be able to join. Grrrr...how can your body get in the way! I have to slow down. But trust me, it's not going to be easy for me. Do you recognize that? That the whole world is shouting that you should slow down while you only want one thing:move forward.

Keep going

And as much as I hate it, I know my body is right. It tells me it's time to slow down. And that I overlooked something. I am in the middle of a move. I don't have to tell you that it is quite hectic. What I apparently do is 'just' continue with my training program. While this period demands a lot from me and the fuse is getting shorter and shorter. That 'just' keep going… That kills me. And I hit myself in the head… Why am I so stubborn? Who am I trotting on like this for? And who can pay the toll? That's me all by myself!

What about you? When was the last time you trotted through? And did you carry on with willpower when you were already exhausted? I believe it lurks very often. There are so many things that pull you and keep you going. How do you make sure you deal with that differently? What does it ask of you to listen better to your body?

Reduce throttle after overload

First of all, you have to face the power of your will. That is because it is very strong. Your body gives subtle hints that it is overloaded. And it doesn't get any clearer. Yes, it does become clearer, but that is also the final signal. So it's up to you to act DIFFERENTLY in the subtle hints phase. Don't rush, but slow down. Because that's exactly what your body wants. Slow down, temporarily, and recover. How difficult is that?

Take it easy:that's tough

Pretty difficult for the tough guys among us. Because habits are very strong. Chances are you're used to going on and keeping your head up. And here you have to say:“I can't make it.” Or:  “I have to  take a step back.” So it is about:letting go of previously made plans and realizing that you not saves what you intended.

Good luck tough guys, take it easy!
