Table of contents
Fresh baguette from the bakery in the town in the morning. A fried egg in the afternoon. And in the evening at the barbecue. I really don't get much further on holiday, I'll be honest 😉 . Cooking is not a hobby of mine at home. Let alone on the wobbly one-burner gas stove in our not too spacious camping 'kitchen'. How do you handle that? Do you also find cooking at the campsite such a misery?
A condition for a camping recipe is therefore that it is fairly simple. Not only because your kitchen is a bit less luxurious than you are used to… But also because it's vacation! So you don't have to go crazy. Choose a dish from Smalijk Kamperen and you will conjure up a tasty holiday meal on the table in no time. And that is probably a welcome change from all the fries and the restaurant food 😉 .
Can camping and good cooking go together at all? Yes, dear reader, I raised an eyebrow myself. But if we have to believe Tasty Camping, it is indeed possible 😉 . For me, cooking at the campsite is mainly lighting the BBQ. As a result, after 3 days I feel like becoming a vegetarian. Do you also have trouble varying your camping dishes? Then this book is probably something for you too.
More than 55 simple dishes that can be made in the most basic kitchen. And the well-known Netherlands also contributes. Make the summer oatmeal from weatherman Peter Kuipers Munneke as a delicious camping breakfast. Or go for the Penne with fennel sausage from Katja Schuurman. They also tell their camping stories. Always nice to read that you are not the only one who sometimes struggles with camping life 😉 .
The book is divided into dishes for before noon, and after. There is a chapter full of vegetarian delicacies, sauces, salads, desserts… And so on. Also handy:Tasty Camping is also full of tips to get rid of your leftovers without having to throw them away.

If you are going to cook at the campsite, make sure you also bring the right kitchen utensils. If possible, go for a two-cylinder. You can also cook surprisingly comfortably in your 'outdoor kitchen' with a skottelbraai. If you're in a lodge, it's no problem… But an electric cool box is also handy, if you go really basic and go camping in a tent. Enough cutlery is also recommended, otherwise you will be in the sanitary building 3 times a day 😉 .
Furthermore, don't forget to pack Tasty Camping. But do read it before you go on holiday… It also contains a very nice packing list! With all the necessities to make cooking at the campsite a real breeze. Enjoy cooking, eating and camping!
