At work, we would like to see coffee trends from the hospitality industry, such as flavored coffee, iced coffee and a to-go cup for on the go. In addition, coffee from a barista at work is also popular, but the majority of employees are unwilling to pay for it. In the workplace, preference is given to good quality free coffee. This is evident from De Koffiemonitor, the annual survey into coffee trends at work commissioned by Nestlé Professional.
79% of working Dutch people indicate that they have regular habits when drinking coffee in the workplace. However, employees are open to deviating from their coffee ritual every now and then. Despite the fact that almost three in ten choose the same coffee variety every day, a quarter say they would like to add a flavor to it with special syrups such as vanilla or caramel. Another one in three would even like to drink an iced coffee in the workplace.
If a company were to hire a barista in the coffee corner with coffee specialties and latte art, 80 percent of the respondents indicated that they would like to make use of this. If there is a price for a freshly prepared coffee specialty from a barista, people are willing to pay an average of € 1.10 for it. However, 60 percent of the respondents indicate that they do not want to pay for such a specialty.
