Tell your boss that from now on you will only start working from 10:00. And then tell them right away that you can't do anything about it, but that your biological clock (and that of your colleagues) is 'guilty' of it.
Recently I asked the question 'how much sleep does a child need'? This came from the fact that we have the idea that my son may be going to bed a bit too late. While looking for an answer, I came across various studies about children's bedtimes, our biological clock and more. Several studies already gave me insight into the different sleep needs of people of different ages.
dr. Kelly goes one step further and indicates that it is even 'criminal' to expect people younger than 55 to arrive at work before 10:00 in the morning. Only after the age of 55 could they start at 09.00, and all this is the result of our biological clock that cannot be changed.
This also applies to schools. The starting time of primary schools is in principle fine for the younger children (although as a parent you do have to get out of bed early 😉 ), but children from the age of about 16 should really only start school at 10.00. Sleep expert Dr. Kelly indicates that from that age on, your body gets different sleep shifts. You can only go to sleep later because of your biological clock, but (as it is now) you still have to get out of bed early. That means sleep deprivation.
And sleep deprivation means poorer learning and performance. It's that simple.
Starting too early, according to Dr. Kelly not only increases the risk of the above problems, but also increases traffic accidents. Because your biological clock simply does not indicate that you are really awake at 08.00.
So I propose that we massively indicate to our employers that we don't want to start working until 10:00. If your boss sputters then you simply indicate very simply that you are not productive before that time 😉 , wouldn't be smart if he lets you start before that time!
Do you notice that your biological clock is not quite up and running before that time? Or can you imagine nothing at all?
