Being energy efficient is hot. Just like energy-efficient living, eating, living and sports. Because we are becoming massively more aware of the need to be frugal with the planet on which we live. But how do you make your workplace energy efficient as an entrepreneur? How do you ensure that you do not waste energy unnecessarily, and how do you make your company “CSR” without large, difficult investments?
Lighting first!
Light bulbs that are energy efficient are the easiest way to make your workplace more energy efficient. So expensive renovations of your office building? You can always do that later. If you replace your halogen lamps or incandescent lamps with LED fluorescent tubes or simple plug-and-play LED panels, you often already take a huge step towards energy efficiency. So do it!
Check your installations!
Several studies have shown that installations in office buildings are completely wrong. Think of hot water installations, heating, cooling, air conditioning systems and ventilation machines. Such installations are often purchased, installed and then they are never or barely looked after. Bad thing! Because by incorrectly adjusting these types of energy consumers, you can easily and unnoticed consume too much power for years. So maintain your installations regularly!
Same working hours
Do one colleague start at 8 a.m. and the other at 9:30 a.m.? And do all colleagues have to work eight hours a day? Then the lamps have to burn for an extra 1.5 hours a day. All. That is an extra 550 burning hours per year. In addition, the coffee machine, heating boiler and all other electrical equipment in the office have to work longer and harder. Using the same working hours saves a lot of energy and therefore ensures a more energy-efficient office. All employees will have to cooperate for this!
Do you want to invest more in energy efficiency in the office? Then it can be effective to engage an energy consultant. Such an advisor checks your building and proposes energy-saving measures. We understand that it costs investments, but we also emphasize to entrepreneurs that they not only contribute to a better environment, but also to a nicer working climate and lower energy costs in the long term!
