If you've already done a few searches, you know they're a bit harder to find than Word's. For Google Docs users, here are several resume templates that you can easily adjust to suit your needs.
When you first sign in to your Google Docs account on the web, you'll see the Template Gallery right at the top. This is a convenient place to start when looking for a resume template. Simply expand the section by clicking the arrows and scroll down to resume templates.
You should see five different template options, each with its own unique look and feel. Just click on one and when it opens in the editor, exchange your information for the sample text.
If you've already looked at Google Docs resume templates and decided you want to look at other options, the sources below are for you.
When you want a simple resume template with no formatting or fancy colors, this one from Vertex42 is a good way to go. Along with its basic appearance, the template gives you the sections to include with subtle prompts to help you.
Remember, you can delete entire sections if you want, such as computer skills or language areas. And, changing the words is as easy as selecting the text and replacing it. Before you delete the text in the top section, you'll see a helpful link for resume tips 10 Things NOT to Put on Your Resume 10 Things NOT to Put on Your Resume Your resume is the first time a potential employer sees it . If a long CV (Curriculum Vitae) is more your style, Vertex42 has you covered. This template contains five pages, but of course you should remove the unnecessary sections. For example, you'll see areas for honors and awards, teaching experience, publications, and professional affiliations. This is just a handy way for you to see the format for only those you'll be using.
As with the basic resume template above, you'll see a helpful Vertex42 link at the top if you'd like resume writing tips. And, this template gives you directions too.
With an impressive collection of resume templates, Gecko &Fly offers the following options. This first one is for those who appreciate a splash of color and a 2-column layout. As with most chronological resumes, your experience is at the top in reverse order, with education directly below it, emphasizing the time frames for each.
In the right column, you have spaces for a small portfolio or other image, skills, and contact information. This layout provides a great way to highlight those elements without them taking up important spaces in the main column. While you won't see any indication with this template, the styling alone may be just what you want.
The following template is for those who prefer a functional resume over a chronological one, but again, would like a more noticeable design. You can emphasize your attributes and skills nicely at the top with arrow bullets and a star rating system. This is great if you want potential employers to quickly see your most important offers.
The next two sections are for experience and education, keeping the resume short and sweet on one page. And you can see there's a little bit of color in this template, like with the chronological option. It is not overdone and provides an attractive appearance.
Another chronological option with a streamlined design is this attractive template. Each section of the resume is divided into boxes for a clean and uncluttered look. You can highlight items for your experiences and show your education simply with years of support.
The skills area at the bottom is nicely formatted if you prefer a paragraph style over bullet points. But you can easily change it with the Google Docs formatting tool to get a bulleted list.
If you want a unique look for your resume, this elegant template is for you. You can place a photo or image on top and really emphasize your education, experience, and skills with this design. If you like the template but prefer not to add an image, simply delete the existing one and the rest of the text will move up.
The skills section at the bottom uses a similar grading system as the functional resume template above. Again, this helps prospective employers quickly see what you have to offer and how skilled you are in each element.
Along with these helpful resume templates, Google Docs has additional sources that you can check out with plugins. You can open the store by selecting Add-ons> Get plugins . And, once you get one, just click Add-ons Again and select the name of the tool to use it.
The first is a Vertex42 plugin whose two templates we provided above. While you can extract the templates from the website links we provide, you can also get them along with the cover letters from the Google Docs plugin.
The advantage of using this plugin, in addition to the resume templates and cover letters, is the additional templates you can use.
