45 percent of business professionals in the Netherlands do not work from a fixed office for at least half of the week, but from different locations. In emerging economies such as Mexico and Brazil, this is a lot more popular with 64 and 60 percent respectively. The popularity of flexible working in the Netherlands can be compared with that in Canada and the US. This is according to international research conducted by Regus among more than 44,000 business people from more than 100 different countries.
Employees find it increasingly important to have a good work-life balance. Half of the Dutch respondents say that the desire to improve work-life balance is a big reason why they would want to work flexibly. In addition, more than a third (36%) want to work closer to home and therefore use flexible workplaces. The rising costs of commuting (19%) and living in the city (19%) are also a motivation in the Netherlands not to travel to a fixed workplace every day.
