Only a quarter (24%) of Dutch entrepreneurs can divide the balance between work and private life equally. 16 percent say the balance is actually 80-20, followed by the ratio of 70-30 and 60-40 (both 14%). For many entrepreneurs, the balance is therefore far from desirable and they spend much more time on their business life. This is apparent from an independent study by Teamleader among Dutch SMEs.
The difference between the desired and actual work-life balance is a problem for the entrepreneur. Looking at what makes Dutch entrepreneurs unhappy, we see that the imbalance between work and private life comes first (28%). This percentage is highest among startup entrepreneurs. Disappointing operating profit (23%) and customers who cancel (22%) come in second and third place, respectively.
Despite the fact that the perfect work-life balance is not achieved in most cases, Dutch entrepreneurs give their private life an 8.1. Business life scores slightly higher, namely an 8.4.
