We set “meetings” with our mailbox and no more than 2 or 3 times a day:at 9 a.m. with coffee, at 11:45 a.m. before going to lunch and at 5:30 p.m. before leaving the office. To avoid being tempted, deactivate the “New message” alert which appears on the screen as soon as you receive an email.
Destroy:we delete spam, newsletters and unnecessary documents. Release:we deal immediately with emails that only take a few minutes. Deposit:in "Archives", we store the emails already processed. Postpone:the email from the boss who asks for a “mini benchmark on the organic hyper market”, we put it in the “Actions” folder. That way, we don't forget it and come back to it later.
A new working method from the United States:one day a week, employees do not use their email. We then take the opportunity to process files that do not require emails. And if you want to contact a colleague who is on the premises, you carry the message yourself... on foot.
