The different types of underlines are part of the cell formatting options found in the Font group on the Ribbon. You can apply formatting to selected cells or entire rows and columns.
First, select the cells you want to apply the underline formatting to.
To display the options, go to:Home> Font Group (Click the down arrow)> Format Cells> Underline . Clicking on the dropdown shows all the options you have. You can select any of five different underline types.
Single bookkeeping and double bookkeeping underscores are accounting practices. Single underline is used to highlight subtotals and double underline is used to mark the final total on any financial statement.
